Tegan is smart and apparently a "know-it-all" and likes being the helpful one is certain situations. She is seen as the underdog in many places, especially in school, as she is often second place or picked after all the popular people and she knows it. It doesn't help with her crush on Junior as she knows he's popular and likes someone else.
