Sophie Lily Hannigan is the daughter of Phoebe Buffay-Hannigan and Mike Hannigan and one of the six main characters.

Early life[]
Sophie was first mentioned by Joey in his series, when he implies that everyone got married and had children. Her and her brother's birth unlike the other was not seen it is only seen as a baby in The one with Emma's birthday party as a separate tape made by Phoebe for Sophie and Mike Jr to watch but Sophie and Mikey were already 18.
Teenage Years[]
Her family moved to England for a year when she was a teenager and moved back to America in the beginning of the series.
Personality[]
Sophie is a sarcastic young girl and is almost always seen somewhere on her phone. At work she is methodical and likes to get the work done. Sophie is quite harsh but only does it for the best or for others. Sophie, in her words, "could try to be bothered but would rather not."
Family[]
Sophie has a complicated family with her Mother's step-family and adoptive mother, Lily. Her brother was born 10 months apart. Her Emma have a sisterly-bond despite not being related.
Name[]
Sophie's name was chosen when Phoebe decided that she wanted to get married and have kids with Mike despite him not wanting to and she exclaimed that she wanted to get married and have two children, Sophie and Mike Jr. Sophie's middle name is Lily in honor of her grandmother, Lily Buffay, who committed suicide when Phoebe was a child.
Physical Appearance[]
Sophie has fair skin and hazel eyes, similar to Phoebe's, and her hair is brown and usually worn down and slightly wavy; at work she ties up her hair into a small bun or ponytail. She is often complimented on her big smile and the "twinkle" in her eyes. She is seen as a bit "heavier" than most of the "skinnier" girls, although her friends try to reassure her and tell her that she's not.
